Biography/About:I've always been a writer. I have my degrees in English and Creative Writing. I love computers (Macs) and expressing myself in just about any way possible, short of being a striptease. I love lying on my back in the backyard and watching asteroid showers. I love that I graduated from the University of Arkansas and met the love of my life in this area soon after graduation. I love that I've LIVED. When I die, I won't be able to say I didn't live. I've lived HARD at times, but marriage and motherhood have acted as sedatives for me. I STILL get the occasional urge to go out dancing until 4 a.m., but I do the Billy Idol thing and "dance with myself." I adore animals and am an animal-rights/education person. Not one of those "PETA-people," but someone who likes to educate the public about helping our furry residents. And I am fascinated by everything paranormal.
Likes:Dancing. Singing. Music in general. Long, hot baths. Romantic sexual surprises. Taking walks. Giving my little boy his nightly bath and watching him splash around as if he's at Sea World. Health-food stores. Chocolate (kind of contrary, huh?)!! Good friends who don't desert you for idiot reasons. Pizza, when it's made just right. Sex, when it's done just right. My nine cats. My house. My body - it's SO not perfect, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Rain and thunder on an early spring or fall day. Debates. Doing hair and makeup for my friends. All books by Jodi Picoult. Keeping in touch with other alums from my sorority. Being loved. Being me.
Dislikes:Anchovies. Dubya. People who are cruel to animals and other people and who have closed minds. People who send their sick kids to school. "Reality" TV. People who don't listen. People who act like someone they're not, and then have a convenient excuse when you catch them at it. People who lie. Dog breath. War movies, especially ones with John Wayne in them. That twilight period between sleeping and waking when I know I HAVE to get up, but COULD go back to sleep at just any second ... and then my alarm goes off again!
Interests:Oh, God. Too many to count. See "Personal Favorites." Maybe I can organize them better this way.
Correction on That "Home" Thing:I live with my husband and ONE kid. :)
Best Job You've Ever Had:Working as a news reporter for the Morning News (of Northwest Arkansas). The people were great and I loved the beats I covered there.
Worst Job You've Ever Had:Working as a news reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, where you're supposed to have "status," but where they treat their people like cavepeople, give you next to ZERO in the benefits department, and make you stay about 16 hours a day trying to get a story that's not even important. Prison inmates painting the new jail? A NEWS story? Puuuuh-LEASE! Thankfully, I quit that job and moved on to the Morning News. Good move on my part! I worked there until my water broke in the newsroom in front of God and everyone. Don't even ask how I reacted to THAT!
Any Favorite Jewelry? Special Items?Yes. My wedding album and pictures. My platinum seven-diamond right-hand ring which I wear for Dylan. I got pregnant in July (the 7th month) and had Dylan in April (and diamonds are the birthstone for April), so the ring really fits, so to speak. My hubby got me that when I got pregnant. Also, my wedding rings (of course), my baby-and-mom wrist-bands from the hospital when Dylan was born, my maternity clothes, even though I can't have any more kids (go figure!), and my mom's wedding ring.
